an interview with worship leader: ANDREW BERG
The first time I saw Matt Theissen at a Cavs game my sophomore year of high school. Just kidding...actually it was late in high school with some tough events that led me closer to God and I started venting on my guitar...God started opening tons of doors to lead worship and I've just been trying to follow him ever since.
1. When did you first feel the call to be a musician and a worship leader?

2. How have you grown as a result of writing music?
I've realized how bad I am at it...hmm...actually It has been a sort of a journal for me, so i've actually grown a lot by writing. Recently, I've grown through a phase of not writing (which is unusual for me) and i'm starting to write again and its changing...so if this is making sense and my a.d.d. is not too bad, i guess writing music has allowed me to grow personally first and foremost. It has also allowed me to connect with others resonating with the same issues. I love that. I love connecting and helping people.

3. Briefly share your 'CYF' story...
(when you were a camper - what was your CYF experience like?)
CYF is like my favorite week of the year besides Christmas i guess...and the Masters...i came here scared to death entering college and God REALLY impacted me through the people of CYF. I grew a ton...it's been an amazing community for me ever since. I hope and pray that I can lead here until I die. I'm convinced that God changes lives here and if I can be a small part of that forever, thats awesome.

4. What makes you so passionate about leading worship at CYF each year?
Oh, i guess i kind of already answered this one. But yeah, i think its great to know students here and then lead them throughout the week. Its not just about singing...at all! Its leading others into His presence...and when i can go down the slip n slide with them and know them a little bit and then describe something i'm learning in the Bible and lead a song on that...it makes a greater connection for everybody...it makes me tick and allows me to sing andl lead like crazy. I love when God is just like singing through me...its awesome. Hopefully some of this makes sense.
